Hi, I’m Annie Branton, a 16 year old big air kiteboarder. I rode Harlem gear during the competition and I’m hoping to join the Harlem team soon.

You finished third in the first ever GKA Youth Big Air Kite World Championship

How did you feel when the results came in?

I finished 3rd in the U19 Women’s division, which was an incredible feeling, especially since this was the first-ever GKA Youth Big Air World Championships. I wasn’t very confident throughout the event and wasn’t feeling my best, so seeing my name on the podium was a moment I’ll never forget.

Which moment of the competition were you most proud of?

I’m proud that I managed to perform well despite light wind, a knee injury, and limited practice.

Are there any upcoming events, that you are excited for?

I’ve been competing a lot recently, including at the Big Air Hydrofoil World Championships, the UK Big Air Championships, and Full Power Tarifa, where I also made the podium. These experiences have helped me grow in areas like strategy, handling pressure, and understanding competition

formats, and I’m excited to come back even stronger in 2026.

What was your overall impression of the event and how was the atmosphere among the other (female) kiters?

ree

The competition overall was outstanding. the atmosphere, the people, and the organisation were all amazing. The collaboration between the California Kitesurf Masters and the GKA made the event truly special.

What is your message to other young girls who want to start kitesurfing but maybe are afraid or unsure?

My message to other girls thinking about competing is simple… do it. It’s an incredible experience that pushes your limits, builds confidence, and connects you with amazing people.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event happen!

It was one of the best competition atmospheres I’ve ever been part of!
